Why can't vampires drink "dead blood"?

from RereRini on 05/11/2019 08:14 PM

Vampires drink blood because it sustains them.

In the Ricean universe, a vampire must not drink blood from a dead person.

"Dead blood" will make them seriously ill.

And confirmed by Lestat's own storyline in the film, it does not kill him as some mistakenly think.

This may be because of several factors.

First, not long after the death the blood begins to clot and coagulation is very mich present, so fluids begin to separate. So the cells tend to settle to the bottom and water tends to be more towards the top.

Second, the blood is no longer as nutrient rich. Many things are absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed around the body. Such things break down shortly after death.

So I can see why "dead blood" would be damaging.

I see! Japan is a cremation. I don't know much about vampires. It will be helpful.
It was good to hear various stories 😊😊
